A short history of the jockstrap

The jockstrap as a fashion or, let's just say, leisure item is a fairly modern affair.

As a sporting garment, however, its history is relatively long and well-documented.

But which came first? The jock – as in US slang for a sportsman – or the jockstrap? And the answer is...the garment.

It's generally agreed that the jock in question was a short form of jockey. Not a jockey on a horse, but on a bike. A bike, to be more specific, being ridden across the cobbles of Boston, Massachusetts, in the late-ish 19th century.

So the jockstrap was invented to stop a cyclist's undercarriage from being hobbled by cobbles.

There's also some evidence that 'jock' is much earlier slang for a chap's...chap, but we'll leave that in the past.

All we know is that our jockstraps do the job they were designed for – providing comfort and support for sport, or any other activity.

Best briefs ever

I found this brand at a store in Portland, OR and after one pair I had to get more. They are incredibly comfortable and breathable with plenty of room. Will be buying more! For sizing, I normally wear a US Medium in briefs and went with the Large here and they are a perfect fit.

I love everything about these shorts. How they’re sexy but tasteful and understated, how great they feel with the right proportion of cotton and strechy materials. The fact they’re ethically and responsibly made in Europe and yet sold at competitive prices is a huge plus as well. Most of all I’m delighted at how well they fit me, so comfortable and flattering too.

I am sorry that you haven't received your order yet. The trunk was sent on 2nd January by Mail with a non-tracked service (which is the service used for an order that includes only one item). Usually delivery to the US via Mail takes around 3 to 4 weeks, so it should arrive very soon now. Anyway, I will also speak to the warehouse tomorrow about it and they will also email you directly with more info.
